Analisis Ekonomi Pengelolaan Limbah Rumah Tangga Dalam Upaya Mengurangi Pencemaran Lingkungan

Abstract

Household waste management is closely related to environmental quality, resource use, and household economic activity. Some waste materials can be reused, recycled, or processed into products with potential economic value, but these activities also require labor, facilities, transportation, and operating costs. This article examines the economic dimensions of household waste management and their relationship with efforts to reduce environmental pollution. The study uses a qualitative literature review based on ten references concerning household waste processing, waste banks, community training, recycling, organic waste treatment, and circular economy practices. The literature is organized thematically around economic value, operating costs, community participation, resource efficiency, and environmental outcomes. The analysis indicates that waste banks, recycling, and organic waste processing offer possible routes for recovering materials and reducing the amount of waste requiring disposal. However, the existence of a marketable product or revenue stream does not by itself demonstrate financial feasibility or environmental improvement. Such assessments require information on collection and processing costs, material volumes, residual waste, product quality, and relevant environmental indicators. The article develops an analytical framework that connects economic benefits, operational requirements, and environmental performance. Its conclusions are conceptual and should be refined after the full texts of the cited studies have been reviewed and their findings compared systematically.
