Abstract

This study aimed to determine students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model to improve learning outcomes in the textile experimentation element for Grade XI students at SMKN 1 Kalitengah Lamongan. The background of this study was based on the low level of student engagement and learning outcomes that had not optimally achieved the Minimum Criteria of Learning Objective Achievement (KKTP). Therefore, an innovative learning model was needed to encourage students’ activeness and skills through project-based activities. This study employed a quantitative approach using a Pre-Experimental design with a One-Shot Case Study. The subjects of this study were 23 students of Grade XI Fashion Design and Production at SMKN 1 Kalitengah Lamongan. The treatment applied was the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in the suminagashi fabric dyeing technique material within the textile experimentation element. Data collection techniques included observation, performance tests, and student response questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive percentage analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in suminagashi learning was carried out very well. This was indicated by the overall average percentage of teacher and student activities, which reached 98% and was categorized as “Very Good.” Students’ learning outcomes were also categorized as “Very Good,” with average scores of 84.13% for preparation, 87.17% for work process, 88.55% for results, and 89.56% for work attitude. In addition, all students achieved scores above the KKTP standard, resulting in a 100% learning mastery percentage. Student responses toward the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model obtained an average percentage of 91%, which was categorized as “Very Good.” Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in suminagashi learning was effective in improving students’ learning outcomes, learning activities, and responses in the textile experimentation element for Grade XI Fashion Design and Production students at SMKN 1 Kalitengah Lamongan.
