Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the social interaction patterns of Generation Z, a generation that grew up amidst the rapid development of the internet and social media. Ease of access to information and communication has had a positive impact on education, social life, and self-development, but on the other hand, it has also given rise to various digital ethics issues such as the spread of hoaxes, cyberbullying, hate speech, low communication ethics, consumer culture, and dependence on social media. These conditions indicate a digital ethics crisis that requires serious attention because it has the potential to affect the character formation of the younger generation. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in addressing the digital ethics crisis of Generation Z through a literature study approach. The research method used is qualitative research with a library research type through data collection from scientific articles, national and international journals, books, and relevant academic sources in the last five years. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to identify concepts, theories, and previous research findings regarding digital ethics and Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that the digital ethics crisis of Generation Z is influenced by low digital literacy, weak self-control, and high exposure to digital content without adequate moral filters. Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping digital ethics through the internalization of moral values such as honesty, responsibility, politeness, self-control, and the principle of tabayyun (reflection) in handling information. Furthermore, strategies to strengthen Islamic education can be implemented through the integration of Islamic values-based digital literacy, innovations in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, strengthening the role of families, and collaboration between schools and the community. Thus, Islamic education is a crucial foundation in shaping Generation Z, who are not only technologically proficient but also possess digital ethics and Islamic character.
