Abstract

This study aims to analyze the philosophical foundations of education and examine the main ideas and philosophical schools that influence the development of educational theory and practice. The philosophical foundation of education plays an important role in providing direction, values, and objectives in the implementation of education so that the educational process does not only focus on the transfer of knowledge but also on character building, the development of human potential, and the formation of students critical awareness. This research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method. The research data were obtained from various academic literature sources such as scholarly journals, academic books, and research publications related to the philosophy of education. The data analysis technique was conducted through identifying, reviewing, comparing, and synthesizing various concepts found in the literature in order to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the philosophical foundations of education and the contribution of various schools of educational philosophy in the development of the education system. The results of the study indicate that the philosophical foundations of education play a strategic role in providing a conceptual framework for developing educational goals, curriculum design, and learning methods that are relevant to students needs. Various schools of educational philosophy such as idealism, realism, pragmatism, and existentialism offer different perspectives in understanding human nature, knowledge, and the educational process.
