Abstract

Southeast Asia is a unique geographical region, occupying a strategic position between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean and connecting the continents of Asia and Australia. This region comprises eleven countries with a total land area of approximately 4.5 million km² and is home to more than 700 million people. Its extraordinary geographical diversity   ranging from active volcanic mountains, dense tropical rainforests, fertile alluvial plains, to thousands of islands scattered across the waters   makes Southeast Asia a remarkably rich laboratory of natural and human geography. This article comprehensively examines the regional geography of Southeast Asia, covering: physical-astronomical conditions, geomorphology, climate, hydrology, biodiversity, population dynamics, economic-geographical conditions, as well as the environmental and geopolitical challenges faced by the region in the 21st century. This study is expected to provide a deep understanding of the complexity and potential of the Southeast Asian region within the context of global geography.
