Abstract

This study investigates how Christian values ​​are incorporated into the curriculum of Inpres Taekiu, a public elementary school in East Nusa Tenggara with a predominantly Christian student population. The purpose of this study was to identify methods, challenges, and opportunities for implementing Christian values ​​to shape students' character and spirituality. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with teachers, the principal, and students, classroom observations, and document analysis using a qualitative case study approach. The results indicate that Christian values ​​are explicitly incorporated into weekly religious instruction, morning worship, and prayer routines. Teachers also implicitly demonstrate values ​​such as love, honesty, and forgiveness in their daily interactions, which align with the principles of Jesus as the Great Teacher. Due to the dense curriculum and teacher shortages, which are also common in other schools in Indonesia, a major challenge is limited time for further study. Furthermore, the increasingly digital culture makes it difficult for students to maintain religious principles. However, significant opportunities exist, including strong support from Christian teacher role models, a mission-driven school culture, and potential collaboration with parents and the local church. These assistants are crucial for creating an environment that supports character formation. This study found that, although SD Inpres Taekiu has made commendable efforts, more systematic strategies and collaboration are needed to overcome challenges and see the potential for integrating Christian values.
