KONSEP RAHMAH (KASIH SAYANG) DALAM PERSPEKTIF HADIS TARBAWI

This study discusses the concept of rahmah (compassion) from the perspective of hadith and its relevance to Islamic education. Rahmah is one of the core values in Islamic teachings, reflecting an attitude of compassion, gentleness, empathy, and care for fellow human beings. This value is not only integral to social relationships but also serves as a crucial foundation in the educational process. This study aims to explain the meaning of rahmah in the hadith, examine the values of rahmah in educational hadith (hadith tarbawi), and analyze its implementation in the Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning process. The research method used is a literature review (library research) with a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were obtained through the analysis of verses from the Qur’an, the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and various scientific literature related to the concept of rahmah and Islamic education. The results of the study indicate that the concept of rahmah serves as the primary foundation in Islamic education, emphasizing the importance of gentleness, patience, care, and compassion in educating students. The Prophet ﷺ set an example that education conducted with compassion can create a harmonious relationship between teachers and students, making the learning process more effective and enjoyable. The implementation of rahmah in learning can be carried out through a personal approach, gentle communication, the provision of emotional support, and an empathetic attitude toward the students’ conditions. In addition, the application of the value of rahmah also has a positive impact on students’ development, such as fostering a sense of safety and comfort in learning, increasing motivation to learn, and shaping noble character and moral values. Thus, the concept of rahmah in the hadith plays a vital role in building a humanistic Islamic education system that is focused on character development and capable of addressing moral challenges in the modern era.
