Abstract

Abstract. Conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system is an important aspect of science learning because students need not only to identify the names and functions of respiratory organs but also to understand the relationships among organs and the breathing process. This study aimed to examine the use of an Augmented Reality (AR)-integrated learning module based on Assemblr EDU and to determine the improvement of students’ conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system. The study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kurt Lewin model, consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants were 24 sixth-grade students at SDN Dukuh Kupang III/490. The study began with a pre-cycle and continued through two cycles. Data were collected through a conceptual understanding test, student activity observation, and action implementation observation. The data were analyzed quantitatively using mean scores and percentage of mastery, supported by descriptive analysis of observation data. The results showed that the mean conceptual understanding score increased from 60.25 in the pre-cycle to 73.33 in Cycle I and 85.21 in Cycle II. The percentage of students achieving mastery increased from 20.83% to 58.33% and then to 87.50%. Action implementation increased from 72.5% in Cycle I to 95.0% in Cycle II, while student activity increased from 70.0% to 92.5%. These findings indicate that the use of an AR-integrated learning module based on Assemblr EDU can support the improvement of students’ conceptual understanding of the human respiratory system.
