Student learning activity in mathematics learning among second-grade students on addition and subtraction word problems was still not optimal. This study aimed to improve students’ learning activity through the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by the Mathematics Mission Tree media. This study used Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in three stages, namely pre-cycle, Cycle I, and Cycle II, involving 28 second-grade students of SDN Dukuh Kupang Iii/490. Data were collected through observation using a learning activity observation sheet and field notes. Students’ learning activity was observed through five indicators, namely carrying out learning tasks, processing information to determine solutions, explaining the solution process, asking questions or giving responses, and contributing to group discussions. The results showed that students’ learning activity increased from 37.32% in the pre-cycle to 46.25% in Cycle I and 63.21% in Cycle II. The increase indicates that the implementation of TGT assisted by the Mathematics Mission Tree provided opportunities for students to become more actively involved in solving problems, discussing, responding, and participating in learning activities. Therefore, the TGT learning model assisted by the Mathematics Mission Tree can be used as an alternative to improve mathematics learning activity among second-grade elementary school students.
