Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out multicultural education based on local wisdom. This article was written using a literature review method or literature study, namely combining several quotations from available scientific works. The results of the research show that: the objectives of multicultural education are: a) Development of educational ethnic and cultural literacy, b) Personal development of the psychological basis of education, c) Clarification of educational values and attitudes, d) Multicultural educational competence, e) Basic skills abilities. Multicultural education of Minangkabau local wisdom can be carried out through various approaches, including: a) Formal education approach, namely through Minangkabau Natural Culturesubjects at school, b) Non-formal education approach, namely through extracurricular activities, such as arts and culture, sports, and scouting, c) Informal education approach, namely through the family and community environment. The application of multicultural education with Minangkabau local wisdom in schools is: a) Teachers can teach the values of local Minangkabau wisdom, b) Teachers can invite students to carry out activities that can foster a sense of tolerance and inclusion, and c) Schools can hold activities that can promote cultural and religious diversity.
