Abstract

This study is motivated by the limited correlational research on the relationship between the Strengthening Project of the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) and the development of students’ independent character, particularly at the elementary school level. In fact, P5 within the Merdeka Curriculum has great potential to foster student character, especially independence. The aim of this study is to describe the implementation of P5 activities, the development of students’ independent character, and to examine the correlation between the two at SD Islam Tebuireng Ir. Soedigno Kesamben Jombang. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach with a sample of 88 fifth and sixth grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using validity and reliability tests as well as the Spearman correlation test. The results indicate that the implementation of P5 is categorized as very good (score 86%), while students’ independent character is also very high (score 84%). The Spearman correlation test shows a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a correlation coefficient of 0.609, indicating a strong relationship. The determination coefficient of 86.6% shows that most of the development of independent character is influenced by P5 implementation. This study concludes that P5 significantly contributes to the development of students’ independent character and can serve as a basis for effective character-based learning strategies in elementary schools.
