This research aims to understand the phenomenon of infidelity within friendship circles through a cognitive communication approach. The study analyzes how interpersonal information processing, perception, and attribution influence an individual's decision to engage in a romantic relationship with their friend's partner. The method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach and in-depth interviews with participants who have experienced or directly witnessed cases of infidelity among friends. The results indicate that cognitive distortions, moral justification, and manipulative communication play a significant role in shaping such dynamics. This research is expected to provide new insights into the importance of ethical communication and cognitive awareness in maintaining social relationship boundaries.
