Abstract

The development of new media has encouraged the emergence of various digital platforms, one of which is podcasts, which are increasingly used as a medium for information dissemination and self-development. The Catch Up Club podcast has gained popularity due to its discussions on life, friendship, and self-improvement delivered through a relaxed and relatable communication style. This study aims to analyze the communication style of the hosts of The Catch Up Club podcast and examine its role in fostering self-improvement among audiences. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The informants consisted of five audience members of the podcast. The findings, based on Joseph A. DeVito’s theory, indicate that the hosts predominantly use an assertive communication style, characterized by clear, open, honest, and respectful message delivery. The use of simple language, humor, personal experiences, and a warm approach makes the messages easier to understand. This communication style encourages self-reflection, enhances motivation, builds self-confidence, and supports the audience's selfimprovement process.
