Abstract

The digitization of library materials is a strategic step in responding to technological developments and improving information accessibility. This study aims to examine the contribution of Field Practice (Praktik Kerja Lapangan/PKL) students to the digitization process of library materials through database creation and its implementation in the INLISLite application at the Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis (ITB) Kalla Library. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with a participatory design, describing the direct involvement of students over 24 working days. The results show that PKL students actively participated in seven main activities: (1) inputting book data into the INLISLite database; (2) recording inventory in the master book; (3) checking the similarity of scientific papers using Turnitin; (4) inputting student thesis data; (5) inventorying library materials and stamping; (6) inputting book covers; and (7) inputting copy data. These activities provenly supported the realization of a structured and efficient information retrieval system. In conclusion, the participation of PKL students served not only as a medium for applying the knowledge they had learned but also contributed significantly to accelerating library automation and the transformation towards a more user-serving digital library.
