Educational evaluation plays a crucial role in assessing the effectiveness of teaching and the achievement of learning objectives. This study examines three main aspects of educational evaluation: its definition, fundamental principles, and scope. The definition of evaluation involves a systematic process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information regarding both learning outcomes and instructional processes. The fundamental principles emphasize careful planning, the use of valid and reliable instruments, and applying evaluation results for continuous improvement. Meanwhile, the scope covers assessment of student competencies, teaching methods, curriculum implementation, and institutional performance. Evaluation is comprehensive and requires the involvement of various stakeholders to provide objective, constructive, and actionable information. The findings offer guidance for educators and institutions in designing evaluation strategies that are effective, sustainable, and supportive of overall quality enhancement in education.
