Abstract

This study is entitled The Effect of the Children Learning in Science (CLIS) Learning Model on Fifth Grade Students' Scientific Literacy on the Material of Changes in the State of Matter at MIS Hikmatul Salridho Batang Kuis. The research is motivated by the low scientific literacy of science students and the learning process that is still dominated by lecture methods and conventional approaches. The method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group design. The study was conducted at MIS Hikmatul Salridho Batang Kuis with a population of all fifth grade students and a sample of 42 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The research instrument was a multiple-choice test, while data analysis used a paired samples t-test. The results showed that the CLIS model had a significant effect on improving students' scientific literacy. The average post-test score of the experimental class was 83.33, higher than the control class at 78.57. A significance value of 0.000 <0.05 proves that Ha is accepted. Thus, the CLIS model is effective in improving fifth grade students' scientific literacy on the material of changes in the state of matter.
