Abstract

PT X is a company that focuses on manufacturing screw and bolt products for business-to-business (B2B) clients. One of the problems faced by this company is the occurrence of defects in the production stage. This study aims to identify the causes of product defects in the screw and bolt manufacturing process by applying Statistical Quality Control methods. In this study, seven SQC tools were used, including check sheets, stratification, histogram graphs, Pareto diagrams, scatter diagrams, p-charts, and fishbone diagrams. The results of the study show that there are three types of product defects at PT X, namely broken heads, cracks above the heads, and bent rivets. The high number of defective products at PT X was uncontrolled, as it exceeded the established UCL and LCL control limits. The cause lies in the 4M factors, namely man, machine, method, and material. The suggestions proposed include digitizing product records and reevaluating quality control methods to reduce the number of defective products produced.
