Abstract

This study applies a Geographic Information System (GIS) to map the distribution of industrial units and labor absorption in 5 sub-districts of Malang City in 2024. The approach used is to combine spatial data (sub-district boundary maps) with statistical data (Industrial Units and Labor) to produce a thematic map. Key findings conclude that there is a spatial disparity in industrial distribution. Kedungkandang District has the highest density of business units with a total of 2,085 units, acting as a center for micro-enterprises. Meanwhile, Sukun District excels in labor absorption with a total of 6,420 workers, indicating the presence of labor-intensive industries. The visualization results also show that Klojen District, as the city center, has the lowest number of industries due to land limitations. Thus, the use of WebGIS in the prototype phase has succeeded in presenting the spread of industry and labor visually and clearly to support zoning policies.
