Abstract

Library and archival management plays an important role in supporting higher education information services, particularly in higher education service institutions that have a strategic function in facilitating and supervising universities. This study aims to describe the implementation of library and archival management at the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region X Padang as part of higher education information services. This research employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation related to library and archival management activities at LLDIKTI Region X Padang. The results indicate that library management includes collection processing, book inventory, shelving, circulation services, and the management of periodicals, which serve as supporting information resources for staff and higher education stakeholders. Meanwhile, archival management covers archival searching, classification, arrangement, and digitization of lecturers’ archives and institutional records. Both library and archival units complement each other in providing organized, accurate, and accessible information to support administrative and informational needs. Although the implementation of library and archival management at LLDIKTI Region X Padang has functioned in accordance with its basic roles, this study also identifies several challenges, particularly related to the limited use of information technology and human resources. Therefore, strengthening library and archival management systems and optimizing the use of information technology are essential strategies to improve the quality of higher education information services at LLDIKTI Region X Padang.
