This study aims to analyze the psycholinguistic factors causing speech disorders among students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) at the Islamic University of Riau (UIR) during microteaching practice. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and a psycholinguistic perspective, this research explores the relationship between anxiety, mastery of material, and language processing on oral speech ability. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five active students who frequently experience public speaking anxiety. The findings indicate that anxiety is a dominant factor disrupting cognitive and linguistic processes, such as speech planning, sentence structuring, and fluency, manifested in stuttering, pauses, word repetitions, and reduced message clarity. Mastery of material plays a crucial role in reducing anxiety and boosting self-confidence, thereby facilitating more effective language processing. In conclusion, speaking ability in the context of microteaching is the result of a dynamic interaction between psychological (anxiety), cognitive (material mastery), and linguistic (language processing) aspects. This study recommends an integrated approach considering these three aspects to enhance the speaking skills of prospective teachers.
