Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes in class VII.3 of SMP Negeri 10 Palembang through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. This type of research is classroom action research with research subjects of 36 students in class VII.3 of SMP Negeri 10 Palembang. The data collection techniques used are observation, tests and documentation. This research was carried out in 2 cycles. Before conducting classroom research, an initial test is carried out to determine student learning outcomes. From the initial test results, data was obtained that the average value of student learning outcomes was 69.44 and the percentage of student learning completion was 52%. In cycle I the average score of students' learning results increased to 74.86 and the percentage of students' learning completion was 72%. There are 26 students who have scored above the KKM, namely ≥75, while 10 others still have scores below the KKM. In cycle II the average value of student learning outcomes was 84.72 and the percentage of student learning completion was 88%. There are 32 students who have scored above the KKM, namely ≥75, while 4 others still have scores below the KKM. Thus it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model with the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach can improve student learning outcomes.
