Pengaruh Terapi Kombinasi Akupresur Sederhana Dan Aromaterapi Lemon Tehadap Kecemasan Pasien Yang Menjalani Hemodialisis Di RSU Diponegoro Dua Satu Klaten

Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis frequently experience anxiety, which can negatively impact their quality of life and treatment adherence. Complementary therapy combining simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy is suggested to induce relaxation, thereby helping to reduce anxiety levels. This study aimed to analyze the effect of combined simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy on reducing anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients. A quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design was conducted at the Hemodialysis Unit of RSU Diponegoro Dua Satu Klaten in June 2026. A total of 42 respondents were selected using purposive sampling and divided equally into an intervention group (n = 21) and a control group (n = 21). The instruments utilized included Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for simple acupressure, SOPs for lemon aromatherapy, and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the paired t-test. Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents in the intervention group experienced moderate anxiety (95.2%). Following the combination therapy, anxiety levels significantly decreased, with the majority shifting to mild anxiety (76.2%) and showing a mean score reduction of 6.81 on the HARS scale. Conversely, the control group showed no significant change in anxiety categories, with a minor mean score reduction of 1.24. The paired t-test confirmed that the combination therapy had a statistically significant effect on reducing patient anxiety (p < 0.001). Combined simple acupressure and lemon aromatherapy is effective in reducing anxiety levels and is recommended as a safe, independent complementary nursing intervention for hemodialysis patients.
