Abstract

Room temperature is one of the factors that can influence students' comfort and concentration during the learning process. At SDN Kepuren 1, room temperature is still monitored manually, making it difficult to obtain timely information about classroom conditions, while temperature control has not yet been automated. Therefore, this study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based room temperature monitoring and control system using an ESP32 microcontroller and a DHT22 sensor. This study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using a prototyping development model. The development process consisted of requirement analysis, system design, prototype development, testing, evaluation, and implementation. The DHT22 sensor was used to measure room temperature and humidity, while the ESP32 processed the collected data and transmitted it to users in real time through a Telegram Bot. In addition, the system utilized a relay module to automatically control a cooling fan. The fan was programmed to turn on when the room temperature reached or exceeded 32°C and to turn off when the temperature dropped below the predefined threshold. The testing results showed that the developed system was able to monitor room temperature in real time, send notifications through Telegram, and automatically control the cooling fan according to the specified temperature threshold. Overall, the proposed system simplifies the process of monitoring and controlling room temperature, making it more efficient while helping to create a more comfortable learning environment for students.
