Abstract

Laundry businesses require fast, accurate, and structured clothing weight recording to support operational efficiency and billing to customers. This study designed and built a prototype of a digital scale based on a load cell sensor integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT) to automatically record weighing data into a Google Sheets spreadsheet application. The hardware used includes a load cell, an HX711 module as an amplifier and ADC converter, an ESP32 microcontroller, and a 16x2 I2C LCD as an information display, while the software utilizes Google Apps Script as a middleware service for real-time data storage. The system is also equipped with a customer name input feature via Serial Monitor so that every weighing data stored in Google Sheets is accompanied by the customer's identity, facilitating the process of searching transaction history and creating business reports. The research method used is the Prototype method, including hardware and software design, sensor calibration, and system functionality testing using Black Box Testing. The test results show that all system components work according to the design with a high level of accuracy compared to standard scales, as well as the successful automatic sending of weighing data (weight, customer name, time, and date) to Google Sheets. Thus, this prototype effectively integrates automatic weight measurement and digital record-keeping, providing a practical solution for improving data management and operational efficiency in laundry businesses.
