HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN PERAWAT IGD DENGAN PENANGANAN AWAL PASIEN SINDROM KORONER AKUT (SKA) DI RUMAH SAKIT MURNI TEGUH MEMORIAL MEDAN TAHUN 2026

Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is a cardiovascular emergency requiring rapid and appropriate management. Emergency Department (ED) nurses play a crucial role in the initial management of ACS patients, a role heavily influenced by their level of knowledge. This study aimed to determine the relationship between ED nurses' knowledge levels and the initial management of ACS patients. It was a correlational study with a cross-sectional design involving 37 ED nurses selected via total sampling. Data were collected using a knowledge questionnaire and an ACS initial management checklist, then analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that the majority of ED nurses were aged 20–30 years (54.1%), held a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (43.2%), had 5–10 years of work experience (56.8%), and were male (51.4%). Nurses' knowledge levels fell into the "good" category (62.2%), as did the initial management of ACS (67.6%). The Spearman Rank test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.650, indicating a significant and strong relationship between ED nurses' knowledge levels and the initial management of ACS patients. The study concludes that there is a significant and strong relationship between ED nurses' knowledge levels and the initial management of ACS patients at Murni Teguh Memorial Hospital, Medan; the higher the nurses' knowledge level, the better the initial management provided. It is recommended to refine the methodology and expand the research variables, such as work experience, training frequency, and learning motivation to complement the existing findings.
