Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Project Based Learning model on the material of changes in the state of matter on the learning outcomes of grade IV students of SDN Balongbesuk, Diwek, Jombang. The project based learning model was chosen because of the emphasis of project-based learning that actively involves students in exploring concepts through direct experience. With this approach, it is expected that students can understand the material more deeply and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the learning process.The research method used is one-group pretest-posttest design, where one group of students is given an initial test (pretest) before the application of the project based learning model, then given a final test (posttest) after the learning process takes place. Student learning outcome data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and also expert tests to determine the difference in scores before and after treatment. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes after the application of the project based learning model. This indicates that this method is effective in improving students' understanding of the material of changes in the state of matter. This indicates that this method is effective in improving students' understanding of the material of changes in the state of matter.This study strengthens that the application of the project based learning model can be an effective learning strategy in improving student learning outcomes in elementary schools. With this model, students are more active in the learning process and are able to understand the concepts learned with everyday life. Therefore, the application of the project based learning model is recommended as an alternative learning model to improve the quality of education, especially in science subjects at the elementary school level.
