Abstract

Problem-solving is very important for daily life, especially for students, because in this case, students can think, find solutions, and imagine for subjects, especially mathematics. Therefore, mathematics education must be applied and is very important in the theory of problem-solving abilities. This model is very well applied in mathematics subjects because students can solve problems in every question. The learning objective of this model is for students to be able to solve problems, find solutions, design steps, and provide detailed answers. This research is a quantitative study with a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The sample population of this study consists of 20 fifth-grade students. The results of the data analysis show that the average pre-test score before the treatment was 63, while the average post-test score after the treatment was 80.4. Then overall, the students' problem-solving abilities showed an increase in the pre-test and post-test, with an average percentage of 54%. Therefore, the students' problem-solving abilities significantly improved after learning using the "Problem Based Learning" model.
