Abstract

There are many problems that occur in science learning, one of which is that learning is still centered on teachers and textbooks. Students are accustomed to learning using the lecture method. This learning model can create a classroom atmosphere that is not conducive and less active, indicated by the noisy classroom atmosphere, students are busy chatting when the teacher explains in front of the class.This study aims to determine the effect of the snowball throwing model on the results of science lessons using photosynthesis material for fourth grade students of Gajah 2 Elementary School, Ngoro, Jombang. This research is a quantitative study with a type of Pre-Experimental Design research with a One-Group pre-test post-test form. The population is all students at Gajah 2 Elementary School, Ngoro, Jombang. The sample taken in this study was class IV, totaling 27 students. The data collection method used in this study is the question method. The results of this study can be concluded that: The results of students' science lessons in the science learning of photosynthesis material in Gajah 2 Ngoro Jombang before using the snowball throwing model are generally categorized as sufficient with an average value obtained, namely: 49.03. While after using the snowball throwing model, it is generally categorized as good with an average value obtained, namely 65.03. The effect of science learning on photosynthesis material for grade IV students of SDN Gajah 2 Ngoro Jombang shows that there is a significant effect of 0.000. The significant value shows 0.000 <0.05 so that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant effect in the use of the snowball throwing model on the results of science lessons for grade IV students of SDN Gajah 2 Ngoro Jombang.
