Abstract

Indonesia is often faced with problems that divide the community by organizations in the name of Islam, including intolerance, radicalization and acts of terrorism. This has an impact on the bad name of Islam in the eyes of the public and even the emergence of Islamophobia. Starting from here the theme of religious moderation which is based on the thoughts of KH. Abdul Muchith Muzadi becomes urgent to study, which serves as an answer of this theological problem. The purpose of this research is to examine KH. Abdul Muchith Muzadi’s concept of moderation then has implication for Islamic education in Indonesia. The research method used in this research is a qualitative approach with the type of library research. Data collection is done through the documentation method, while data analysis uses content analysis techniques and historical analysis. The results showed that KH Abdul Muchit Muzadi's views on Islamic moderation include: first, unity; second, justice; third, tawassuth wal i'tidal; fourth, ukhuwah islamiyah, wathaniah, and insaniyah. The implication of Islamic moderation for Islamic education proposed by KH Abdul Muchith Muzadi involves several values, such as: tawassuth, tawazun, i'tidal, tasamuh, al musawah, shura, islah, tatawur, ibtikar, tahadhur, wathaniah, muwathanah, and qudwatiah.
