Writing ability is a fundamental skill that students must master in learning the Indonesian language. However, many students face difficulties in writing due to limited vocabulary, lack of understanding of text structure, and less innovative teaching methods. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of contextual learning based on outing class in improving the writing skills of fifth-grade students at UPT SD Negeri 17 Perkebunan Sei Bejangkar. The research method used is an experimental approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 21 students as research subjects. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments and analyzed using a t-test to determine significant differences before and after treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in vocabulary, sentence structure, coherence of ideas, and creativity in writing. The average pretest score of 61.25 increased to 78.8 in the posttest. These findings indicate that outing class-based learning provides real-life experiences that help students better understand and apply writing skills. Therefore, this method can be an alternative to improving the quality of Indonesian language learning in elementary schools.
