IMPLEMENTASI KURIKULUM MERDEKA PADA MATA PELAJARAN PAI DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER SISWA DI SMPN 1 BARENG JOMBANG

Character education has become an important issue due to the increasing moral crisis among students, such as violence, cheating, and drug abuse. In Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, the Independent Curriculum is expected to be able to shape students' character through a meaningful learning approach. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Independent Curriculum in the PAI subject at SMPN 1 Bareng Jombang and its supporting and inhibiting factors. This study uses a qualitative case study approach, with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that the student characters formed include independence, creativity, kinship, mutual cooperation, honesty, trustworthiness, tolerance, social care, discipline, responsibility, and critical thinking. Supporting factors include government support, trained teachers, and the role of parents. The obstacles faced include limited IT skills of teachers, lack of facilities and infrastructure, challenges in teaching children with special needs, students addicted to cellphones, and decreasing twadhu towards teachers.
