Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of Sufi educational values in shaping students’ character in the era of globalization. Globalization poses serious challenges to the morality and spirituality of the younger generation, particularly in Islamic boarding schools. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Misbahul Qur’an Ngoro Jombang through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Sufi education practiced in this pesantren is not limited to cognitive aspects through classical texts but emphasizes the habituation of values such as patience, sincerity, asceticism, and introspection in daily life. Teacher exemplars and the spiritual environment of the pesantren are key factors in the internalization process. Despite challenges from instant lifestyle trends and social media influence, the pesantren successfully fosters emotionally stable, spiritually strong, and globally adaptive students. This study concludes that Sufi-based education is a relevant alternative solution for cultivating virtuous and resilient personalities in the global age.
