Abstract

Climate change is a big problem that impacts the whole world, affecting the environment, the economy, people's well-being, and the ability to develop in a lasting way. Islamic economics deals with fairness, balance, the good of everyone, and the responsibility of people in taking care of nature's resources. This study tries to look at how the maqashid sharia and the green economy can work together to deal with climate change in Indonesia, and it also wants to find out the good chances and the difficulties that come with making this happen. This study uses a qualitative method by looking at academic articles and official papers about Islamic economics, the green economy, and climate change that were written between 2022 and 2026. The literature is looked at using thematic content analysis, which involves finding key ideas, grouping them into themes, and putting them together in a meaningful way. The review suggests that the principles of Maqashid Sharia can offer an ethical base for the green economy by focusing on protecting life, wealth, family, knowledge, and faith, which are connected to the duty of taking care of the environment. These ideas can be backed by green financing, green sukuk, productive waqf, and ways of making and using things that are sustainable. Still, to make it work, we need better rules, teamwork between organizations, more education about the environment, and ways to check if things are really improving. This study finds that combining maqashid sharia with the green economy can help make sustainable development stronger in Indonesia, but only if it is used regularly and backed by responsibility for the environment.
