Abstract

Internationalization of higher education has increased the need for students to possess adequate English proficiency to participate in international academic environments, pursue further study, and engage in cross-border academic mobility. IELTS Academic is one of the internationally recognized English proficiency tests commonly used in higher education contexts. However, many students are not sufficiently familiar with the test format, assessment criteria, and effective strategies for completing the four tested skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. This community service activity aims to improve students’ readiness for IELTS through structured IELTS Preparation training. The activity was designed using a participatory training approach involving needs identification, IELTS orientation, skill-based training, guided practice, speaking practice, writing exercises, simulation, feedback, and evaluation. The training emphasizes not only test-taking strategies but also the development of academic English skills that are relevant to students’ future academic activities. The program is expected to improve students’ familiarity with the IELTS format, confidence in using English, ability to apply appropriate test strategies, and readiness to pursue international study and mobility opportunities.
