Abstract

Abstract.

The innovation of using PVC pipes as road reflectors in the UNNES GIAT 13 community service program in Soborejo Village was designed to improve nighttime visibility in low-light rural traffic areas, especially at high-risk segments between Krajan and Mangli hamlets. The reflectors were constructed by reinforcing PVC pipes with a cement, sand and gravel mixture and applying bright paint and reflective stickers to enhance light retroreflection. Implementation results indicate that the reflectors provide strong structural stability, effective visibility, and function as a low-cost passive safety device suitable for rural conditions. These findings demonstrate that locally available materials and simple engineering techniques can offer a practical, replicable solution for improving passive road safety infrastructure.
